South Ayrshire is a great place to live and work with a wealth of cultural heritage, breathtaking coastal scenery, fascinating history and vast array of tourist attractions.

US President Donald Trump’s business empire owns Trump Turnberry Golf Course in South Ayrshire and nearby the local authority is also home to Robert Burns’ birthplace at Alloway. You can’t help but wonder what the latter would have made of the former – some verses at least.
Along with a glorious piece of the Scottish coastline, a lot of golf courses and some prestigious pieces of national history there is also one of the Scotland’s favourite race courses in South Ayrshire which makes it a very interesting place to live, work and be part of the council team that helps makes the place tick.
There is also Prestwick Airport, which is being touted as a venue for the UK space sport, as well as proving international and domestic flights for those of us who do not aspire to be astronauts.
At the Convention of Scottish Local Authority Awards, South Ayrshire has recently won gold, with its Provost’s School Footprint Challenge – a competition between all secondary schools in South Ayrshire – to encourage young people to look after the environment and empower them to reduce carbon emissions related to their schools’ activities and buildings; all nine of the secondary schools took part.
The year before they also won gold with the Troon Dune Restoration Project which recycles and re-uses beach waste on Troon South beach to help sustain and restore the adjacent fragile sand dune formation.
Glasgow, a world-class city with all it has to offer, is less than an hour away by car with easy access to the motorway network from Ayr and even less by train.
On the doorstep is that stunning coast, beautiful countryside and the Royal Burgh of Ayr, one of the largest retail centres in the south of Scotland – which was also named as one of the healthiest town centres in the UK by the Royal Society for Public Health.
