Who are we? What does our team do?

The System Operator Policy and Programmes (P&P) team provides a range of central (non-geographic) cross-functional activities and provides support to the geographically based System Operator teams in specific disciplines.

This role sits with the System Operator Programme team, our team is accountable for leading the function's key programmes and projects, and for maintaining portfolio level oversight for activities within the function. This role supports delivery of the function's key programmes and projects.

What does the day to day look like in this role?

A typical week would see the role holder engaging in various meetings with colleagues, producing project documentation, engaging with additional groups and events, preparing briefings and participating in team activities aimed at sharing good practice, team development and learning lessons.

You will be managing and agreeing the criteria of change or planning projects with the relevant Executive Sponsors and Functional Directors whilst leading the development / delivery of projects in compliance with our processes and procedures / project budgets and agreed targets.

You will also be able to create and deliver regular progress reports on change projects, including relevant risks and issues, to Executive Sponsors and Functional Directors. Promoting and monitoring the use of efficiency improvement methods will be key.

What type of person are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with knowledge of, and preferably experience within, the rail industry.

We would like you to have Project Management and business change experience with good communication skills. You will need to be conscientious, adaptable and professional.

What skills / experiences are required?

' Relevant experience in the successful management of major and complex business change projects.

' Experience of applying project methodologies

We would also like but not essential:

' Educated to degree level

' Knowledge of industry long term planning processes

' Member of project association

' Commercial and financial awareness.

' Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.

' Knowledge of/experience in the UK rail industry.

What's the salary?

We adhere to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: '42,336 - '47,628
