For 30 years Sense Scotland has been working with people who have communication support needs and believes everyone should have a choice in how they live their life. People we work with include those who have sensory impairment, deafblindness, autism, learning or physical disabilities and healthcare support needs. Our 17 charity shops sell a fantastic range of quality items at affordable prices to raise funds to support children and adults with communication support needs across Scotland. Our shops raised over £1m last year to support disabled children and adults throughout their lives and we are now looking for a Stock Collector to distribute collection bags to houses in the East of Scotland and Central Belt, and to collect donated goods to be sold in our charity shops.
The position of Stock Collector is to distribute collection bags to houses in the East of Scotland and to collect donated goods to be sold in our charity shops. Sense Scotland mainly has charity shops in the Fife and Angus areas of the East of Scotland
Generate stock donations for Charity Shops by distributing collection bags to houses in the East of Scotland, and returning to collect donated goods to meet sales requirements.
To ensure that all items being transported in the van are appropriately secured and wrapped to prevent damage in transit.
To ensure that the Van is washed regularly and kept clean inside and to report to the Senior Shop Manager if any fault or damage occurs
To keep daily records of mileage, destination and purpose of journey, to keep the van fuelled and ensure that receipts are given to the Head of Retail each week.
To deliver supplies of carrier bags and other shop supplies from the Warehouse as requested by the Shop Managers.
On occasions to undertake small tasks in the shops i.e. replacing light bulbs or if able, screwing a new shelf to the wall.
From time to time the Stock Collector may be required to help move items for Sense Scotland or take discarded items to the ‘Tip’ to assist the Shops Manager
Ensure that all Sense Scotland administrative and financial procedures are followed including weekly collection figures.
Travel within Scotland where required in the performance of the job, to provide cover in other areas or for deliveries.
This role involves heavy lifting and/or regular lifting. The post holder has responsibility to take reasonable care of self and others in relation to risk, health and safety and will be required to work within the appropriate policies and procedures.
A flexible approach to the hours worked will be needed as on occasions there may be early starts or late finishes.

It is essential that the Stock Collector has:
A disposition that is in keeping with a 'public' related working environment
An ability to cope with hard physical work.
A current clean driving licence.
Ability to communicate with staff, volunteers and public at every level
Flexibility in work commitment as on occasions there may be early starts or late finishes.
Ability to be self-motivated and to use their own initiative and be able to work unsupervised
Knowledge of the East of Scotland
