To provide possession protection and support as directed by the possession management staff within the area, for given weeks of any programme year, under the jurisdiction of the Senior PICOP/PICOP.
In this key post you will Undertake Possession Support and Hand Signaller activities as directed by the operations delivery manager. You will be responsible for operating Level Crossing Barriers as directed and for Checking that certificates are in date for validation, reporting on expiry dates to line management. Full training in all aspects of the job including extensive safety training will be provided but you will need to be a quick learner, who can follow instructions. You will ensure that you and your staff and sub-contractors under your management or control work safely and comply with all current and relevant health, safety and environmental legislation including Railway Group and Line Standards.
' Able to drive road vehicles with full, clean license preferred
' Previous rail maintenance experience is advantageous
' Holding the following competencies PTS, COSS/IWA, Hand Signaller and PS
' Ensure that you and your staff and sub-contractors under your management or control assess and control risks and plan and implement safe methods of working and are competent to carry out the task.
' Ensure the safety of passengers, the general public and the environment is not affected by the activities of you, your staff and contractors under your control.
' Ensure that accidents, incidents or near misses to you or staff under your control are reported to Infrastructure Control, the Regional Safety Section and to your Supervisor/Manager, and that the Accident Book is filled in promptly.
' Ensure you and your staff participates in the Company cascade safety briefings. Be aware of the relevance and importance of activities which you, or those working under your direction are required to undertake and how these contribute to achievement of quality policy and business objectives.
