Burial Team Leading Hand, Perth (PKC05369)
£19,909 - £22,416 (37 hours/week)
Friarton Depot, Friarton Road, Perth, PH2 8DF

You will be a senior member of a burial team. Your duties will directly involve all aspects of burial duties including lair marking. You must have experience of burials, safe systems of work and the operation of power tools and plant. Experience in mechanical diggers is essential. To receive burial instructions and to efficiently organise and complete burial work instructions, ensuring that all burial functions are carried out to a high quality, to IBCA standards and on time. To undertake scatterings and interments of ashes on a routine basis, lair excavation, backfilling, funeral attendance and any other routine squad task. To ensure that all works are performed in compliance with appropriate risk assessments and health and safety requirements.

When required you will assist in all other ground maintenance tasks including operation of grass cutting equipment, sports pitch maintenance and hedge cutting attachments, chemical spraying, trailer towing. The operation of other equipment includes inspection, routine maintenance and cleaning. These duties will require the use and operation of the usual range of associated tools and equipment including powered tools and light equipment and assisting in any work carried out by The Environment Service. To undertake on the job training and tool box talks as required. Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend work and maybe required to work on a standby basis in rotation with other staff. The Environment Service works under ‘new ways of working’ which is a variable shift system and may involving weekend working. This post is a 4 day working week of 37 hours.

To be successful, you must hold a current UK C1 + E driving licence, Mini Digger (360), CPC Card and a Digital Tachograph Card. You will be aware of Road Transport Regulations, you will be able to carry out the physical demands of the job, and as a representative of the Council, you will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public as well as colleagues. You will bring a positive energy; have the ability to work well as part of a team. You will be aware of Health & Safety legislation, you will have effective visual skills with the ability to ensure the safety of other road users and pedestrians, you will have the ability to carry out vehicle inspections, ensuring that your vehicle is safe to drive and meets all legal requirements. You will have the ability to operate a tacograph and to navigate in and around the Perth & Kinross area.
