Location: Perth

Salary: Up to £65,000 depending on skills and experience plus annual incentive.

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

Our Role

You'll lead the strategic planning and development of telecommunications into all SSEN primary, grid and super grid substations including platforms within substations to facilitate SCADA, active network management, corporate data and telephony, security and mobile working. You'll manage a team of Network Planners and own the role of Design Authority for all data network design within the Distribution and Transmission businesses.

Your Skills and Experience

Degree educated, you should have a good understanding of telecommunications systems and operational safety rules. With a strong knowledge and experience of the operation and design of telecommunication networks and protection and control systems applied to Distribution and Transmission, you'll demonstrate excellent communication skills. You should have the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders and take a calm, logical, approach to difficult situations.

Our Company

At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.

Our Operational Technology team works within the DSO (Distribution System Operator) Directorate and provides the support systems to protect and control our Networks so that our front-line customer staff have the tools to delight our customers and can carry out their job safely. We set the investment strategy, engineering standards and the network development plans for all operational technology, including telecommunications, ensuring we are getting the most from our Network, and getting the most for our customers.
