Social Care Worker, Glaitness Centre

19.5 hours per week, shift work on a rota basis covering 7 days a week
Temporary maternity cover up to 29 February 2020
£24,077 - £26,094 / £26,836 - £29,405 pro rata (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)

The Glaitness Centre is located in Kirkwall and comprises purpose built supported accommodation, a short breaks house, and day care facilities for people with physical disabilities. There will be opportunity to work in all parts of the service, including occasional night shift as the service requires.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. You will adopt a person-centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Accommodation, Short Breaks and Day Service. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach that includes support and assistance to service users to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities. You should have knowledge and experience of Support Planning and Risk Assessing in relation to people who have disabilities and be committed to the principles of social inclusion.

Previous experience of working within social care services, in particular this for people with disabilities is essential.

To be appointed at G5

You should hold an SVQ2 in Social Services and Health Care or other relevant qualification(s) AND achieve an SVQ 3 Social Services and Health Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support Service with Care at Home within 5 years of appointment.

To be appointed at G6

You should hold an SVQ 3 Social Services and Health Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support Service with Care at Home within 5 years of appointment.

You are required to register with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Housing Support Service with Care at Home within 6 months of appointment.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
