The Care at Home Service provides flexible care and support to people in their homes. A typical day will see a Home Carer provide personal care in accordance with National Care Standards.
You will be expected to assist with personal care such as getting up or going to bed, preparing light meals and snacks and pushing and pulling of equipment such as hoists, wheelchairs and bathing chairs during washing and dressing.
As a Home Carer you will be responsible for recording information in care plans and providing companionship and support at times of distress, anxiety and confusion. You will create a positive and supportive atmosphere where service users can achieve maximum independence.The Individual
You must hold or be willing to achieve the SVQ Social Service and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 SVQ Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 SVQ Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 SVQ Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 SVQ Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 or equivalent to meet SSSC Registration in the first period of registration. Full training will be provided to help you meet this.
You should be able to provide a regular and effective service including shift patterns undertake physical requirements associated with the job and work under minimal supervision. Key skills include kindness, compassion, team working, non-judgemental and caring skills.
You will follow instructions in a safe and responsible manner, have an awareness of Health and Safety and National Care Standards. You should consider issues affecting vulnerable people.
You should have the ability to travel within Fife as you will travel between service user’s homes.
Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland.
