We have an exciting opportunity for a Roads Officer to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high quality service within East Lothian Council Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has the knowledge and experience in the development of road projects, feasibility and concept design. You will play a key role in enhancing the quality and standards in the roads and related infrastructure within East Lothian. This post will focus on development of projects, preparing technical assessments and advising on appropriate interventions to maintain the safety of the public road Network in East Lothian. You may be required manage external projects ensuring works are completed in accordance with contract documentation and best practice.
The candidate will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships. You will also need to be IT proficient as digital technology is used daily as part of the role. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience (Technical and non-Technical) as well as members of the public.
It is expected that the individual will be suitably educated to HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience. You will be working within an office environment and will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within beautiful East Lothian. You will need to have an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
