Job Description The Area Ranger will join the team within the Operations Service section of Environment & Place. You will be responsible for co-ordinating site projects to maintain and enhance the biodiversity and access to multiple greenspace sites for local communities and provide support to community groups operating in volunteer activities to achieve these aims. Within this role you will work to promote conservation, recreation, and environmental education within local greenspace sites. The successful candidate will have a great opportunity to work within an operational team to make a difference by contributing to and improving the services we deliver in a Council whose parks and varied open spaces include play areas, skate parks, sports pitches, allotments, countryside woodland sites and wildflower areas enjoyed by both residents and the large number of tourists to the City and Stirling area. Requirements Qualified to Diploma/HNC in a green-space/countryside related discipline or with equivalent relevant experience within the ranger based sector, you will be an enthusiastic, committed and proactive individual with energy, ambition and ideas to take on a key ranger role co-ordinating and delivering environmental. green-space and conservation projects. You will have a broad experience and knowledge of countryside site management, in leading groups of volunteers participating in site maintenance activities, an excellent working knowledge of health and safety and customer service and be able to undertake procurement processes. As an excellent communicator with a qualification to undertake basic tree inspections and species or habitat survey experience would be a useful skill in this role you will have experience in providing talks and presentations to a range of audiences and the relevant standards and specifications associated with green-space conservation tasks and activities applicable across the Stirling Council open space estate. The post involves a 35 hour working week 8am-4pm Mon-Fri, has an option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme and includes 29 days annual leave (34 days after 5 year service) and 7 fixed Public Holidays.
