The Scottish Government believes that children must have access to highly qualified staff in Early Learning and Childcare. To support this, they are funding additional graduates.
This new and exciting role will require the successful candidate to offer a high level of expertise and input to young children and families who require additional support, in order to assist in closing the attainment gap. It also allows the successful candidate to support collegiate practice and teamwork across the nursery.
In order to carry out this role you will need to be highly organised with good planning skills. You will be required to:support the development of teaching / learning throughout the Early Years setting support the effective delivery of the curriculum both indoors and outdoors support family learning across the Early Years setting and within the local community support others to enhance understanding of nurture and children’s well-being work with the Early Years team and families to develop strategies which help families to support their child’s learning support collegiate practice and teamwork across the Early Years setting to deliver high quality early learning and childcare support and develop improvement across the early level to improve outcomes for children
You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
With an excellent working knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence and qualified to SCQF level 8 or 9 / SVQ 4 in a relevant discipline, you will provide additional support for those children who need it most in order to close the attainment gap. You must be willing to undertake and complete a BA in Childhood Practice or PDA at Level 9 within 5 years of starting in the role.
Please note that study will be undertaken in your own time which may involve 8 to 10 hours study per week.

This post is regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.Requirements
