Network Rail Design Delivery (NRDD) within Infrastructure Projects (IP) will provide a managed service for design delivery through a regionally-structured, multi-disciplinary organisation and relationships with supply chain design organisations. The NRDD bring a range of different specialisations including Signalling, E&P, B&C and Track Design that complement each other to improve the overall diverse service offering.

Job Purpose

This will include site visits, report writing and drafting using Microstation.

Network Rail Design Delivery (NRDD) within Infrastructure Projects (IP) provides a managed service for design delivery through a regionally-structured, multi-disciplinary organisation and relationships with supply chain design organisations. NRDD brings together a range of different Engineering disciplines including Signalling, E&P, B&C and Track to work collaboratively on a wide variety of projects across the Rail network.

We are looking for Engineering Technicians to work within our Track design teams with a background in railways, infrastructure and/or multidisciplinary projects.

Do you have or are working towards'.

' experience of 2D & 3D software modelling capability using Bentley or Auto desk products

' an HNC, HND or degree relative to discipline

' experience in working in a team environment

Key accountabilities for the role

' To prepare drawings and 3D models to develop concept, feasibility and design proposals to meet business objectives. This may involve site visits in order to provide effective viable proposals.

' Assist in the development of technical track designs.

' To provide cost effective, fit for purpose and value for money technical design service to internal and external clients and in accordance with efficiency targets.

' To establish, maintain and improve cost effective 'corporate' design standards for new build and renewals works having due regard to the requirements of company standards and policies and heritage designations where these apply.

' To proactively participate as a member the team.

' To assist the Senior Design Engineer and their team in the production of design deliverables.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications for the role

Essential

' Experienced in working in a team environment

' Construction Design Management (CDM) Awareness

Desirable

' Experience in track engineering eg maintenance, design, installation, S&C fabrication/assembly

' General awareness of railway operations and railway engineering

' To hold or be working towards a relevant Engineering qualification.

' Membership of an appropriate professional body such as ICE, IMechE, PWayI

' Proactive approach to professional development

' Knowledge of gauging using ClearRoute2'

' Experienced in use of Bentley MicroStation and Bentley Rail Track
