Are you an outgoing, friendly, optimistic and focused individual who loves nature and wildlife? Confident to work with people in busy and vibrant public environments and happy to work most weekends and Bank Holidays? Have you worked successfully to sales or fundraising targets and now you're looking for a new challenge? Want to help inspire the public to join the RSPB?
There is an exciting opportunity to work for the RSPB in and around Bristol as a Membership Development Officer to increase people's connection to the natural world through RSPB membership. If nature is to survive we need to encourage more people to spend more time in nature and to help fund vital wildlife conservation efforts to help give nature a home.
Nature is in big trouble but we've got big plans to save it. Can you help us?
The RSPB is a leading nature conservation charity and is now focusing on some ambitious plans and targets - working together with the public and its partners to collectively change the fate of nature. The successful candidate will be an ambassador for the RSPB, and will enthuse and inspire members of the public to join the RSPB by telling them about the conservation work that the RSPB is doing and using excellent fundraising/sales skills in public places and at busy events to promote RSPB membership. Increased Membership is the key to the future success of the RSPB.
The successful candidate will become part of the RSPB South West membership team. This role will involve working across a wide variety of public venues and events such as farmers' markets, country shows, garden centres, parks and community centres and enthusing, inspiring and recruiting new RSPB members. Working alongside other RSPB staff and volunteers at nature reserves in the wider South West region (such as the RSPB Ham Wall and RSPB Arne reserves) at times will also be an interesting and stimulating part of the role. Full training and support will be given to the successful candidate and a valid driving license is essential. A works van and work mobile phone is provided.
Applicants should be comfortable in loading and unloading vehicles, happy to work most weekends, most bank holidays and when required some unsociable hours (early mornings/late evenings) at times.
If you have a passion for saving nature and want to inspire others to do the same, please get in touch.
Please send in your application form and C.V. as soon as you are ready - we are actively recruiting and may draw the role to close when suitable applications are received. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
