The right training. The right experience. The right qualifications.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could get all this from one, effective, rewarding opportunity? Well you can. Our Technical Officer Modern Apprenticeship will give you the practical experience and qualifications you need to help secure a career. So, if you are aged 16-24 (prior to 30th September 2019), or if you are disabled or care experienced and aged between 16-29 years (prior to the 30th September 2019), you may be eligible to apply if you meet the rest of the essential criteria. We recognise that disabled people and those who are care experienced can face challenges on their career journey. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria will be invited to the interview. In Care means you are or were formally looked after by a local authority, in the family home (with support from social services or a social worker) or elsewhere, for example, in foster care, residential care or kinship care (with family friends or relatives) and live in North Lanarkshire this opportunity could be for you.
Working within Housing Property, alongside Technical Officers, you will assist with maintaining and improving council housing stock including multi-story towers, sheltered complexes and dispersed temporary accommodation. This apprenticeship involves considerable contact with the public, dealing with them in a polite and courteous manner; therefore, some work experience in a customer service role is desirable.
You will be provided with full training and gain experience in the delivery of front line services within North Lanarkshire Council. As part of this apprenticeship, you will be required to complete your Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 in your first year leading to an HNC in Construction Management over the next 2 years.
A minimum of 4 standard grades, at bands 1-3 / 4 National 5s, at band A-C (both including English and Maths), or equivalent, is essential. You will have a particular interest in working within property and maintenance and must be able to give examples of when you have worked in a team. Good written and verbal communication skills as well as a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work are also essential.
The successful candiddate will be required to obtain a basic criminal conviction check through DIsclosure Scotland.
This post is temporary for 1 year initially, leading to a further 2 years.
