Mowi is in the process of developing a marine recirculation hatchery in North West Wales. The facility will produce Ballan Wrasse juveniles as a sustainable cleaner fish that will then be deployed into the company’s salmon farms. We are now looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated Hatchery Manager for this site at Penmon in Anglesey. The successful candidate would be expected to manage a team of around 12 staff and be included in an on-call rota to provide 24-hour cover.
Role & Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for the hatchery facility and the health and safety of the site production team.
Ensure efficient production systems are developed to produce wrasse according to the seawater department requirement.
Manage the operation such that a sustainable production cost is maintained.
Qualified to a degree level in an Aquaculture subject or equivalent and/or ability to demonstrate experience in a similar managerial role.
Experience in managing a large-scale recirculation facility in a commercial environment is an advantage.
Ability to supervise and coach staff, develop safety protocols and safe working environment.
Good leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a strong team is essential.
