You will be required to work 22 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year

We have a part-time, permanent vacancy for a Senior Occupational Therapist to cover Stewartry and Wigtownshire in the West of the Region. You will be responsible for the day to day management of Occupational Therapy staff and service delivery of Occupational Therapy and Blue Badge Assessment. You will professionally supervise the Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapists maintaining and improving the quality of practice, as well as ensuring a fair and equitable service across the Region. You will be responsible for authorising the allocation of budget and resources within agreed limits and will assist the Service Manager with investigations, reviews and appeals.

You must have a recognised professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and you must be registered to practise as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council. You must have substantial experience of working as an Occupational Therapist in a community setting and moderate experience of supervising staff and students, as well as a recognised Moving and Handling course. A commitment to service development and post graduate learning and development is also essential for this post.

You will be joining the service during a period of significant change and we need someone who is enthusiastic and positive about change and working in new and integrated ways. Therefore, knowledge of legislation and strategies for Health, Housing and Social Work is essential.

Regular supervision plus performance and development reviews are in place, as well as the opportunity to further develop post graduate knowledge, skills and experience.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
