About the Department
EPM & Investments aim is to create value-adding energy trading services for all stakeholders and external customers by providing superior returns and diversity of fuel supply through financial gas investments that are aligned to SSEs risk strategy. EPM & Investments also offers insight to support the SSE PLC portfolio, while supporting financial investment with well-managed exploration activity.
What is the Role
The Settlements team, based in Perth, is responsible for a wide range of financial and regulatory activities. The core function is to manage all settlement activities for EPM to maximise cash realisation through accurate and timely validation of income and expenditure. Managing the settlement process through the full invoice lifecycle stages to mitigate credit risk/bad debt and optimise cash flows; and providing key financial data to other parts of the business.
They ensure daily regulatory reporting compliance by monitoring, reconciling and verifying regulatory reports and supporting the management of the regulatory risks affecting our business and the markets we operate in. They also provide a wide range of managed services for other SSE entities and Joint Ventures, dealing with a diverse mix of trading and commodity contracts, which are often complex in nature.
You will be responsible for the operation of validation routines to ensure the accuracy of volumes, charges and receipts. You will support the team in managing the invoice lifecycle process, minimising risk and bad debt. You will deliver a high-quality, professional customer experience with accuracy and adherence with contractual/regulatory obligations. You will be responsible for maintaining business tools which validate & reconcile trades, contracts & regulatory reporting. You will develop an understanding of the power and gas markets & the regulatory obligations affecting our portfolio. You will be required to deal with external counterparties and customers on a regular basis. You will engage with the wider EPM team and your customers, as required.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role, good communication, organisational and prioritisation skills are a must, along with strong attention to detail. Self-motivated and proactive, you will have strong numerical skills, along with analytical and problem-solving skills. Although it is important that you are a team player, the confidence to work independently and take ownership of a task or problem through to completion is essential. Strong Microsoft application skills are also required.
Some understanding of invoice management would be preferable, whilst experience or knowledge of obligations, regulations and legislation specifically EMIR, REMIT, Money Laundering Regulations 2017 would be advantageous.
