About the Department
EPM & Investments aim is to create value-adding energy trading services for all stakeholders and external customers by providing superior returns and diversity of fuel supply through financial gas investments that are aligned to SSEs risk strategy. EPM & Investments also offers insight to support the SSE PLC portfolio, while supporting financial investment with well-managed exploration activity.
What is the Role
Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) is an exciting and dynamic area of the Company, with the purpose of delivering energy management and supporting services to internal and external customers and to add further value through buying and selling energy market products.
The Strategic Business Planning Manager for EPM is a great opportunity to get involved with the changing business model of EPM, and the wider SSE businesses. You will play a pivotal role in developing, executing, communicating and implementing our strategy, supporting the Director of EPM, and the wider EPM Management Team.
This will involve developing and managing strategic plans for the EPM business, applying rigour and good governance, ensuring progress is tracked and plans are refined as needs evolve. Supporting the development of the EPM strategy, you'll establish processes to ensure strategic initiatives are developed, tracked, reviewed, and executed correctly.
As an ambassador for EPM, you will be a trusted internal spokesperson for senior leadership, advising on messaging as well as communicating on their behalf, confidently operating at all levels of the organisation. You will support delivery of the EPM Communications Strategy, ensuring that key EPM messages are scheduled, developed and issued accordingly. You will be responsible for producing high quality communication messages and presentations that align with EPM communication objectives as well as leader-led content and tailored messaging.
You will be responsible for scheduling and co-ordinating key EPM meetings, including Executive Committee meetings. You will manage content and liaise with EPM team members to ensure materials are submitted, collated and presented in line with Corporate Governance requirements.
You will also provide support services for the wider EPM Management Team.
What do I need?
As a highly motivated self-starter, you will have experience leading, building, improving and maintaining both internal and external working relationships. The capacity to shape and influence individuals with the ability to provide informed rigour and challenge, along with support and advice will be vital to success.
A first-class communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills, you will understand how to adapt your style for various types of audiences; both internal and external and will be experienced in preparing professional, high quality presentation materials. Highly organised, with a sharp eye for detail and strong problem-solving skills you will be able to provide constructive feedback on reports, KPIs, presentation materials.
Delivery-focused with a passion for continuous improvement, your enthusiasm and drive for results will be vital as the EPM business evolves to align with strategic priorities.
