Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to help landowners and local communities take action for threatened upland wildlife at an internationally-important site?
We are looking for a confident, motivated and organised person who can initiate a range of projects in the Muirkirk and North Lowther Uplands - an SPA and SSSI in south-west Scotland which is designated for its extensive peatlands and upland bird community like including hen harrier, curlew and short-eared owl.
Working as part of a team at RSPB, you will need to work closely with farmers, estates, private businesses and government agencies including Scottish Natural Heritage.
Our ideal candidate will have good ecological knowledge and organisational skills, have experience of project management, data management and working with land managers as well as a good understanding of agricultural systems, natural history and ecology. The candidate should be a confident communicator and have the ability to get on well with a wide range of people and enjoy working as part of a team. This post is funded by INTERREG 5A.
You will likely be based at our Edinburgh or Glasgow office and the role will involve frequent travel across East Ayrshire and surrounding areas. It offers a unique opportunity to make a difference to the fortunes of priority upland species and habitats, whilst developing your skills and wider experience.
This contract is a fixed-term contract running until the end of 3rd July 2021.
This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You will be asked to declare unspent convictions and cautions at offer of employment stage.
Salary starting at
£19,602 to £21,236 per annum pro rata

Hours: Part time, 22.5 hours per week
