West Lothian Council is seeking an individual to join our team of dynamic procurement professionals in the Procurement Support role on a fixed term basis. 

 

The council has adopted a Category Management approach to procurement to ensure that its supplies, services and works are procured in a costs effective and efficient manner. The Procurement Support role plays a critical part within the Corporate Procurement Unit. It supports the strategic delivery of the service and in a range of commodities including but not limited to Fleet, Waste and Housing.

 

The Procurement team is part of Corporate Services. West Lothian Council spends around £129m annually on purchase of goods and services and works. Based in the Corporate Procurement Unit and reporting to the Corporate Procurement Manager, the post holder will provide administrative assistance in the areas of procurement and procurement related matters and undertake appropriate procurement exercises.

 

Working on your own initiative, as an experienced administrator, with minimum supervision and good written and oral communication. You will demonstrate good IT skills, using IT packages and online systems such as PECOS, PCS, PCS-Tender, Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint and be able to produce accurate reports and analyse data. As a good problem solver, you will also be able to prioritise your workload, managing and completing tasks within tight timescales. You will also be a good team worker with the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and other internal and external stakeholders.

A basic understanding of all applicable Scottish, UK and EU procurement legislation would be beneficial to the role

A willingness to work towards the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) qualification is desirable.
