Hours 25 hours per week all year round.
Salary Negotiable, depending on qualification and experience.
Job Purpose Lead the delivery of Early Learning and childcare, which meets the needs of the individual child, using local and national policies, guidelines and procedures, through collaborative working.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the setting.
Contribute to planning curricular activities with staff and be responsible for implementing and evaluating them.
Support Management team and Early Years Practitioners to deliver a flexible, high, quality, stimulating education and care-centred service designed to meet the needs of young children and their families.
Keep abreast of, and lead staff in the implementation of Early Years initiatives and developments, and maintain and develop your own CPD on a regular basis.
Take a lead role in all aspects of care which meet the needs of the individual child in line with the Councils duty of care and the principles of GIRFEC.
Assist the Management team in meeting all quality standards, Care Inspectorate inspections (Education Scotland and Care Inspectorate).
Act as a positive role model and take a lead in any other duties relevant to efficient and effective operation of the Early Years setting.
Knowledge and Skills Knowledge and ability to implement national policies and guidelines, coupled with the ability to use own initiative and have effective communication skills. The ability to lead planning, implement and evaluate.
Qualifications and Training
HNC Childhood Practice at SCQF Level 7 (Formerly SVQ 3) or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF 7 or equivalent practice qualification or past practice qualification as accepted by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
SSSC Registration as an Early Years Practitioner without conditions within 6 months of taking up the post.
Desirable First Aid qualification and Food Handling qualification
Essential Experience of working with children aged 6 months – 5 years of age
Experience of working in a nursery or pre-school setting as part of a team
Desirable Experience of working with the Pre-Birth to Three Framework, Building the Ambition and Curriculum for Excellence.
Prior to confirming appointment, we will require successful candidates to become members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
