The Project Operations Engineer will support a portfolio of tie-back and modification projects in the North Sea including Alligin, Seagull, Skua and Andrew Lower Cretaceous, providing operations engineering input into engineering design, construction, commissioning, start-up of the facilities and all other aspects of the operations readiness plan.

The successful incumbent will report to the North Sea Portfolio Project Operations Manager as part of a team accountable for delivery of operations readiness across a number of GPO Cat A and Cat B tie-back and modifications projects in the North Sea region. The role leads operation engineering input to all stages of the project cycle, with a specific focus on the topsides modifications scopes led by the Cat B GPO team and on the project start-up preparation. The Project Operations Engineer co-ordinates operations and engineering input and leads operations readiness delivery from the asset and regional operations organisation.

The Project Operations Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Leading start up requirement scoping and development of Operations Readiness Plan.
  • Leading delivery of the Operations Readiness Plan.
  • Providing operations engineering input during the design, construction, and commissioning of the system to ensure that operations, maintenance and reliability of equipment and systems are understood and aligned with operations requirements.
  • Owning the development of start-up plan and procedures.
  • Evaluating key lessons learnt (from SLS and HVL) and ensuring these are addressed in the SOR and BoD. Networking with Region facilitating exchange of best practices and lessons learned. Developing and implementing strategy to capture start up lessons to feedback for future projects.
  • Using RAM Model and Opex model to support trade off analyses in order to optimise engineering design.
  • Providing input to MAR, HAZID, ENVID and other process safety studies, and ensuring design meets Inherently Safer Design principles.
  • Establishing and communicating impact of project scope on future operational risk.
  • Follows BP's Engineering Principles, complies with BP's Code of Conduct, and models BP's Values & Behaviour.

A degree in a relevant Engineering discipline is required.
