We are looking to recruit a Project Officer to work within the Programme Management Unit’s Programme Management Office (PMO) to help deliver the Better Council Change Programme. Reporting to the PMO Manager, you will support the programme by undertaking a wide range of duties including creating and updating project documentation - status and budget reports and project plans. You will be expected to attend, chair and document project meetings. You may represent the Council and the Programme when liaising with external partners and stakeholders.

You will have experience in a programme/project role and have the ability to apply and promote consistent application of the PMO governance arrangements including planning, reporting, change control and identification and management of risks, issues and change controls. Using proficient ICT skills, you will collect, manage and analyse data and draft comprehensive reports and present on findings. You will track actions, risks, issues and change control and update logs, advising programme / project management on matters requiring attention and implement management decisions, respond to enquiries and help resolve issues arising. You must have effective organisational and numerical skills with a track record in managing a varied workload whilst using initiative in decision making. It is essential that you have previous relevant experience of organising meetings, report writing and meeting documentation. In addition you will be an effective communicator at all levels with a “can do” attitude who can build effective working relationships with staff in the core team and other managers and staff working on the programme. A degree level qualification or equivalent in a business related discipline is desirable. Experience of Local Government and project/programme support would be advantageous; as would experience in developing communications materials and plans.
