We have a range of exciting opportunities to join our vibrant Sport Development coaching team delivering sports opportunities across the city.

We are currently seeking to recruit Assistant Sports Coaches to deliver a recreational Gymnastics/Trampoline programme based within the Dick McTaggart Regional Gymnastics Centre and the Lynch Sports Centre.

Leisure and Culture Dundee offers tennis coaching opportunities within sports centres and parks with excellent opportunities across the city for all ages and abilities.

Working in partnership with the Scottish FA, we are looking for sports coaches to assist in the delivering and planning of our term time Football programme and Little Kickers programme in schools and sports centres working with preschool and school aged children of various backgrounds.

We are also offering coaching opportunities within our Mini Hawks Athletics programme running in partnership with Dundee Hawkhill Harriers. Mini Hawks caters for beginner Athletes in P1 all the way to P7 offering the opportunity to build and improve Run, Jump and Throw skills and techniques across a wide range of Athletics events.

When work is available you will be contacted. There is no obligation for Leisure and Culture Dundee to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work. The rate of pay is £9.07 per hour. As the hourly rate is below the Living Wage, a supplement has been incorporated into your hourly rate to bring your earnings up to the equivalent of £9.07 per hour.

Requirements

You will hold a UKCC Level 1 in Scottish Gymnastics, Trampoline, Tennis or Athletics (depending on which sport you are applying for) or a SFA 1.2 Children’s/Youth pathway qualification.

Responsibilities

As part of a dynamic Leisure and Sport section, you will assist in the delivery of the Gymnastics, Trampoline, Tennis, Football or Athletics programmes for Leisure & Culture Dundee, coaching to a variety of individuals and groups, whilst adhering, where relevant, to Scottish Governing Body (SGB) guidelines and specified coach to participant ratios.

The Individual

You will have a general interest in Gymnastics, Trampoline, Tennis, Football or Athletics and have experience of working with primary school aged children and experience in assisting practical paid / voluntary sports coaching working with children from a variety of backgrounds in a physical setting.

You must have excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to work in a team and work independently. You must be strongly self-motivated with excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential and you must be flexible and adaptable. You must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekend work where required, as well as undertaking personal development.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to work being offered by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
