Job Description

We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic individual to join our highly motivated Planning team.

The post holder will handle a wide range of planning applications and/or the preparation and evaluation of planning policy together with other Planning tasks. Communication skills and the ability to organise your workload in the face of competing priorities are essential requirement, together with well developed IT skills.

A degree in Town and Country Planning or equivalent and corporate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute are both essential. A relevant post degree qualification is also desirable.

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday: 7 hours 12 minutes per day

Weeks per year: 52

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £34,376.18per annum.

Responsibilities

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a basic/standard/enhanced disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check is £25 and the successful candidate will be required to re-pay to the Council the fee through payroll deduction.
