Job Summary

Team Leader Transport Operations - (Temporary)

Grade - 8

37 Hours + 2 Contractual per week

Hours of Work 8.00am – 5.00pm Mon – Thu. 8.00am - 4.00pm Fri

The post is temporary at the moment due to an ongoing Service review.

Based at Hilton Depot, Bishopbriggs, you will be responsible for managing and controlling the Council’s Internal Transport operation, ensuring the service provided meets the requirements and aspirations of Fleet Customers within Service Level Agreements and budget allocation.

Manage and control the Council’s in house hire business for the full range of specialist vehicles, plant & equipment. Manage overall budget and individual services allocation in line with customer Service Level Agreements

Manage The Council’s Fuel, Telematics and vehicle licensing systems to ensure the efficient and legitimate use of Council assets, in compliance with fleet policies and budget requirements

• All candidates must have a sound understanding of local authority vehicle & plant requirements and legislation applicable to Council fleet operations. Knowledge of Fleet Management’s systems would be advantageous.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
