An awareness of relevant Criminal Justice, Mental Health, Adult Support and Adult Protection and Child Protection Legislation is essential.
You would be line managed by an experienced Team Leader who is also a qualified Mental Health Officer.
All applicants must be registered or in the process of registering with Scottish Social Services Council and hold a Degree in Social Work qualification or equivalent. You must also be able to evidence successful completion of the Mental Health Officer Training Programme.
Our service currently holds an award in Customer Service Excellence and as a council we continue to maintain a high level of service provision in line with national MHO Standards.
It is a requirement of the post of Mental Health Officer that you undertake the full range of Mental Health Officer duties for all contracted hours. This includes the requirement to participate in the Emergency Social Work Services out of hour's standby rota on at least a 1:14 basis.
This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
