Job Description

This three year Modern Apprenticeship is based in the Roads Maintenance Partnership, Fairmuir Depot, Clepington Road, working full time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

The Modern Apprenticeship Scheme is focused to target high youth unemployment in the Dundee Area and the funding for training is only available for candidates aged 16 to 19. Please ensure, if you are applying for a Modern Apprenticeship post, that you are between the ages of 16 to 19. You will be asked to bring proof of age with you if you are invited for an interview.

You will have a minimum of 2 Highers, including English and either Maths or Physics or Graphic Communications or equivalent.

You will provide a roads engineering service to the Department as directed by the Senior Engineer, to the Roads Maintenance Partnership Manager.
The Individual

You will have good communication (oral and written), administrative and organisational skills, be computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office suite, including Word and Excel, and able to work on your own initiative and also as part of a team.

You will also be able to undertake site surveys that may include working at height and in confined spaces.

You will be interested in pursuing a career in Civil Engineering or Transportation and committed and enthusiastic towards completing the full Modern Apprenticeship and achieving HNC in Civil Engineering (scqf Level 7) and SVQ 3 Construction Contracting Operations : Site Technical Support Design (scqf Level 6).
