Role Purpose

Solicitor (Commercial team) – permanent position
Solicitor (Property and Licensing team) - 2 year fixed term appointment
We are looking to employ two solicitors (one on a full time basis, and one on a part-time basis) to assist in delivering a range of high quality customer-focused specialist legal services to Council Departments, the Corporate Client and Elected Members to enable the efficient and effective delivery of corporate and strategic objectives.
These posts will suit candidates with a particular interest in Property, Conveyancing, Planning, Contracts, Procurement or Data Protection. This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise within these areas of law and to gain experience in local authority practice. The work is varied and a high level of responsibility will be given, together with appropriate team support.
There will also be an opportunity, together with an expectation of willingness, to diversify into other areas of local authority work and to gain experience in a range of legal services.
The team places a strong emphasis on staff development and work/life balance. We offer flexible working hours, hold Investors in People accreditation and offer membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
You should be a qualified solicitor or a trainee nearing the end of your traineeship. Continual professional development as required by the Law Society of Scotland is essential. You should have the confidence to work under limited supervision, with well-developed communication and IT skills.

Qualified Solicitor holding (or eligible to hold) an unrestricted practising certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland, or a second year trainee nearing end of traineeship and holding a restricted practising certificate.

Continual professional development as required by the Law Society of Scotland.
