Salary: £36,900 - £56,500 depending on skills and experience plus annual bonus of 10% and additional competitive benefits package

The electricity industry is going through a period of significant change driven by a number of different topics, all aiming to deliver a smarter, more responsive and efficient industry. Whole system is one of those topics that aims to deliver a better overall way of developing energy networks to meet customers needs.
This role will:
- be at the forefront of defining what whole system means for us as a company through engineering analysis and tools;
- develop ways to ensure that whole system works at an engineering level for our network and stakeholders and can be applied consistently; and
- inform how whole system can be established across the energy industry by working with parties including Ofgem, BEIS and the ENA.
We need someone who can deliver our Whole System Policy and help establish the ways and means necessary to deliver whole system value to our stakeholders.
Your Skills and Experience
You will be educated to degree level with an Engineering or numerate degree. You will need a thorough understanding of the GB electricity industry is key, along with experience within a system planning or engineering environment. This will include an understanding of a wide range of industry systems. You'll be an exceptional communicator, with an ability to convey complex messages in an easy to understand manner, both in written and spoken formats. With a strong will to deliver whats best and solve complex problems with thorough analysis, you'll be portfolio orientated and have a knack for organisation. With an ability to deliver challenging deadlines and to detailed specifications, you'll be safety orientated, both in a practical onsite and policy sense.
At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
