What's the role?
As a Cable Layer, you'll be a leading hand in enabling the smooth delivery of our low voltage and high voltage excavations and cable installation. You will work as part of a small team excavating and reinstating trenches and joint bays for new connection and supply restoration projects. You will also be expected to work as part of a larger team installing cable on some of our bigger projects when required. Your tasks will be undertaken on public highways, building sites and private residential land, and must be undertaken in a safe and responsible manner.
What do I need?
You will have previous experience working on Civil's related projects and should hold an NRSWA, plant operator and CSCS authorisations. A full and clean driving licence is required for this role and you should be able to tow a trailer.
You'll be a great team worker and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail. Having excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work accurately and independently is essential and holding a high regard for safety, of both yourself and your surroundings at all times is imperative.
We are always interested in new ways of working and will look to you for innovative ideas to improve processes and move the business forwards.
This is a physically demanding role and will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions. You will also be required to undertake standby duties in response to faults overnight and at weekends, as part of a rota.
Please be aware if you are successful, you'll be required to complete our pre-employment screening process before joining SSE.
