About the Department
Reporting to the Corporate SHE Manager, you'll be an advocate of practical and proportionate risk management and will support the delivery of various work streams within the Group function and the Corporate Service business area. Some of the key areas you'll be involved in are: developing SHE Management Systems; embedding and delivering SHE assurance processes; working with data capturing systems; carry out incident investigations and supporting construction and maintenance projects.
What is the Role
As a SHE Coordinator for Networks, you will share responsibility for enhancing both customer service and SHE performance. As a key member of the team you'll help to reduce risk and improve governance to develop world class, SHE systems.
You'll ensure the Networks business has the support needed to help deliver safe outcomes whilst ensuring the highest professional standards. This will involve assisting the SHE Support Manager on all matters associated with SHE performance reporting, the Networks SHE Management System, arrangements for SHE Assurance and support for SHE innovation projects.
Your responsibilities will extend to effective governance over incident management and escalation processes aligned to SSE systems; including the collection, recording, retrieval, retention, provision and analysis of SHE performance information as well as performance reporting and the provision of training, advice and support to internal stakeholders on access to SHE information and systems as required.
This position is essential to the provision of effective SHE governance processes which enhance customer understanding and engagement regarding the Networks SHE performance.
What do I need
You'll hold a SHE Qualification, such as Nebosh general certificate, and have a good working knowledge of SHE regulations and associated guidance. You'll also have good knowledge of IT systems such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. A strong business acumen and an understanding of the commercial impact of decisions is key as well as demonstrable experience of incorporating best practice SHE governance processes for data management and performance reporting within a large, asset intensive engineering organisation.
Your effective customers and stakeholder engagement will be essential to developing, implementing and maintaining fit-for-purpose SHE processes which deliver safe outcomes for our people, customers and the environment. You must therefore have clear, concise and effective communication skills with the ability to engage effectively and explain complex issues in appropriate detail at all levels within the organisation.
Relentless attention to detail and high professional standards is crucial for success and you'll be a proactive, self-starter with the ability to organise and prioritise your workload under your own initiative to meet challenging deadlines.
