Salary £29,226 - £31,638 per annum (subject to experience), up to 10% performance related bonus and 25 days annual leave

We are looking for Work Area Manager, to join our team at the National Distribution Centre to manage up to 60 direct reports including full and part time employees. This is excellent opportunity to work with the largest UK parcel delivery and distribution service and work with a variety of stakeholders to include Shift Managers, Plant Manager and quality/safety leads to ensure productivity and the achievement of KPIs are exceeded. About the role Reporting to the Late Shift Manager, you will be responsible for Royal Mail operations across the specified work area leading the successful achievement of quality of service, productivity, automation and employee targets. As Work Area Manager you’ll lead a team of full and part time employees and be responsible for attendance management, conducting regular one to one/team meetings, training and development and reviewing the areas performance. You’ll have responsibility for safety and engagement and will get involved in our programme of Continuous Improvement.  In addition, you'll be required to cover the Shift Manager duties in their absence which includes every Saturday shift. Attendance: 14:00 – 22:00 Tuesday to Saturday About you In our operation people are our biggest asset!  If you can lead, motivate and inspire people to achieve great things even in the most challenging of circumstances then what are you waiting for? From a Logistics or Operational background, you’ll have proven experience of successfully managing large teams and improving performance KPIs (people, efficiency, quality and safety). You’ll be able to demonstrate coaching, influencing and relationship management at all levels from senior management to workplace level Strong leadership and management skills are essential as you’ll be required to cover the Shift Manager during periods of absence. You’ll need a high level of emotional intelligence to go with this because remember you are managing people and you will need to engage them to create a winning team to support you.  You will also have a passion to consistently improve results helping us to drive relentless change for the benefit of our people and our customers. As well as managing our people, our operation requires an ability to think strategically, logically tackling complex problems, often under pressure.  This, coupled with a good numerical understanding will help you become a successful Manager at Royal Mail. We are looking for people with bags of resilience and a huge amount of grit and determination.  We need you to have a “can do” attitude and when the going gets tough we need you to come back fighting (and smiling!) the next day because you thrive on the energy and adrenaline of a fast-paced environment and because you share our vision to make a difference!
