Business Manager
Gilmerton Primary School and The Spinney Lane Nursery

Salary: £30,563 - £36,499 (Pro-rata for part time and sessional 40 weeks)
Hours: 24 hours per week, (3 days) 40 weeks per year

Gilmerton Primary School is a non-denominational school which is organised into eighteen classes from P1-P7 and the current school roll is 470. The leadership team also have responsibility for The Spinney Lane Nursery which currently caters for 103 children on a full-time and part-time basis.

The school is led by a management team of a Head Teacher, two Depute Head Teachers, a Principal Teacher and a Business Manager. There is one part-time and one full-time Support for Learning Teachers. The leadership team is ably supported by a School Administrator, a team of Pupil Support Assistants and a Facilities Technician.

We are looking for a Business Manager to join our enthusiastic and committed team, and to be part of our very positive and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will have strong team working skills and be able to multitask in a busy environment, while working closely with the Senior Leadership team. Excellent IT skills and knowledge of finance and workforce systems alongside a working knowledge of managing health and safety and personnel management is essential. The successful candidate will also have excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. Experience of working in a school is desirable.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
