Sanquhar Academy is located in the Upper Nithsdale area of Dumfries and Galloway, serving the Royal Burgh of Sanquhar and the neighbouring villages of Kirkconnnel, Kelloholm and Wanlockhead. Sanquhar is within easy reach of large parts of Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire and Lanarkshire. The school enjoys strong support from its parents and excellent links with the wider community.


A fixed term position for a Learning Resource Assistant has arisen to assist in the effective operation of the school’s Learning Hub. You will work 28.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. This post is fixed term up to March 2022.


This post may be suitable for attachment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.


A requirement for this post is Standard Grade English and Maths (Level 3) or equivalent. Knowledge of working with electronic information systems and financial record keeping are an essential part of this role, together with good organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. You should have a flexible approach to work duties and be able to work as part of a team as well as independently. You should enjoy working with young people and understand the importance of confidentiality.


This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.


Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
