The post of ‘Principal Officer Transport Policy and Road Safety’ will deliver an effective road safety and transport planning service including accident investigation, proposing road safety designs, analysing accident data and other transport information. The post will involve preparing council reports, answering resident’s communications and VIP correspondence and preparation of traffic regulation orders. In addition an annual programme for road safety expenditure will be prepared and monitored. The post holder may be required to attend public meetings, community councils and parent council meetings on occasion.
A degree in transport planning, civil engineering, or a related, acceptable discipline.
Incorporated Engineer status or a professional post graduate qualification in an acceptable, equivalent area.
Significant experience within a local authority transport planning environment, with demonstrable experience of the use of statistics, report writing and IT in a transport planning role.
Experience of staff management, IT systems used in an office environment, overseeing road safety audits within RoSPA guidelines, and knowledge of traffic modelling and quality assurance systems.
A recognised administrative or management qualification.
Registration as a Chartered Engineer.
RoSPA Road Safety Audit Certificate of Competence.
