Bathgate Academy is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Pupil Support Worker.
The successful candidate will support teaching staff and pupils across the school. These are key posts coming at an exciting and challenging time for education and the school.
Bathgate Academy is a comprehensive non-denominational school and serves a cluster of five primary schools.
The school roll is currently 950 and this is steadily rising due to housing developments within the area and an ever increasing confidence from the community about the standard of education we provide.
The successful candidate will have the necessary experience to assist in taking forward the vision of the school in order to support our young people.
The key duties of this post are:To work with and support school pupils in a range of situations whilst working as part of a school team, under the direction of the class teacher, to support the learning and teaching; To support pupil learning, organisation of resources to support learning through the school and carry out duties relating to pupil support. To support pupils' learning by promoting an ethos of achievement through the development of positive working relationships.
The skills and experience you must have are:The ability to work with pupils with a range of additional support needs; Good communicational and interpersonal skills; The ability to be flexible in your approach to challenging situations. SSSC registration (or must be obtained within six months of appointment)
West Lothian Council currently applies a living wage supplement to all employees earning less than £9.07 per hour.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
