, Thank you for your interest in our Public Protection Lead Nurse vacancy based in The Balfour, a Rural General Hospital in OrkneyThe role will provide expert clinical and strategic leadership in Public Protection policy and practice, including vulnerable families, in particular Looked After Children & Young People, adult support, MARAC, and MAPPA. Ensuring the development of robust systems, policies, procedures, professional guidance, consistent standards, training and proactive preventative strategies are in place to safeguard vulnerable adults, children and their families across NHS Orkney, in partnership with other agencies in line with national policy.The Lead Nurse will provide expert knowledge and advice in safeguarding children, young people and adults to a wide range of professional groups and organisations and work closely with appropriate colleagues in partner agencies. The Lead Nurse will be accountable to and report to the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals. There will be strong professional links with local authority public protections leads and Health & Social Care senior managers to support public protection practice across Orkney. The Lead Nurse will also work closely on a multi-agency basis with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of children, young people and adults in Orkney.The Lead Nurse will lead and facilitate exemplary Public Protection practice for healthcare staff and provide specialist support to other agencies to safeguard the welfare of children, young people and adults. This will be achieved by offering access to evidence based advice and information, professional support, clinical and caseload supervision, as well as the development and implementation of evidence based preventative strategies.The post holder will work collaboratively across all areas of the Board and with partner agencies throughout Orkney.
