Contract Type: Casual / Relief

Working Location: Throughout West Fife Area

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £9.34 per hour.

Requirements As a casual worker, you will be required to cover for permanent staff. Regular availability and responding at short notice is a feature and expectation of this post in order to continually meet the needs of the service users we support. The shifts that you will be required to cover will include dayshifts, backshifts, weekends, sleepovers and/or nightshifts. Lone Working is a requirement for this post, which will mean you will work independently, taking responsibility for your shift and making decisions where required to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery. You will adopt a person centred approach in all aspects of service delivery and accompany Service Users in a wide range of personal interest activities and appointments while fully respecting their preferred lifestyle choices and while promoting their independence. You will support adults living at home with all aspects of their housing support and chosen lifestyle. This will include carrying out personal care, supporting service users at mealtimes, support with medication, moving and handling and be responsible for record keeping and finances. (This is not an exhaustive list) A robust Induction Programme is in place for all casual workers. Regular supervision with your line manager, attendance at team meetings and mandatory training is an expectation of the role. The Individual

You will have experience of working in a care setting, providing all aspects of care support.

You will be able to work independently, as well as part of a wider team.

You will have the ability to undertake physical tasks e.g. being able to comfortably kneel on beds and floors and able to rise without difficulty

You will have experience/awareness of Health and Social Care Standards and Fife Council and Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice.

You will have or be willing to achieve in the first period of registration, the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF6 SVQ2 or equivalent to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration.

You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within your first six months in post.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership for working with adults through Disclosure Scotland.
