Job Description :

Full-time Scotland based L5 project manager in DBS.

Diageo Business Services (DBS), a multi-functional global shared services function established to liberate and equip markets to deliver the Diageo Performance Ambition. This is achieved through:

Over the course of the next 3 years, DBS will play a critical role in enabling Diageo’s productivity agenda through the integration of technology, process optimisation, data, BI and the expansion of shared services. There is a significant and ambitious agenda requiring robust Program Management, Benefits Tracking and Planning capabilities.

The role reports to the Supply Portfolio Delivery Manager in the Project & Portfolio Center. The Project Manager is responsible for delivering projects for the Supply & Procurement function, including work in various products of Plan, Source, Make, Move, Technical & Sustainability.

Scope of the role

    • Purpose: The project manager is responsible for leading project management activities of small to medium complexity initiatives through all phases from inception to go-live/ warranty. This includes executing all relevant deliverable across the key phases of the deployment as per the Diageo’s Project and Change Excellence (PACE) methodology.
    • Financials: The Project Manager will typically lead a project between £500k - £2M and is accountable for managing to this budget, flagging Risks & Opportunities as appropriate and ensuring quality deliverables on time and within budget.
    • Market Complexity: DBS delivers services to all Diageo markets and across all functions. The Project Manager will typically lead projects across a couple of countries/functional/process/system footprint. Risk to business operations, change impact, and compliance/controls is in the low to mid range. Duration of each project will vary however typical lengths would be 1 – 18 months. Projects may be delivered in any market geography and will involve managing a variety of Diageo Stakeholders as well as working closely with 3rd party vendors at times.
    • Travel: Travel may be required to these geographies. However use of teleconference and video-conference is encouraged to limit travel and costs

Top Accountabilities

    • Plans, Organises & Communicates: Plans the current and future project phases, identifies potential issues in advance, escalating before issues develop. Ensures the team understand what to do in the next phase and is ready for it in advance. Develops and manages defined communication channels and/or stakeholder groups and acts as single point of contact for project stakeholders. There are a number of key senior stakeholder both internally and externally with whom effective business partnering relationships are essential (Business Partners, Financial Directors, Solution Directors and 3rd party Partners).
    • Owns end to end project delivery: Leads the team to deliver against the plan and timelines. Creates integration across team members. Holds project team members to account. Maintains accurate project data quality and adheres to escalation principles. The role holder will be required to set priorities for a project team so as to keep them aligned and focused to ensure brilliant execution.
    • Accountable for a project with rigorous governance: Establishes at the outset clear & robust governance models and uses that governance to drive decisions & outcomes. Such governance to include leveraging existing Tier 2/3/4 mechanisms in DBS and Supply. Additionally holds regular project assurance reviews and meets agree- to quality targets.
    • Delivers business outcomes: Ensures everyone is engaged behind the same outcome. Everyone understand the agenda and is clear on what they need to do to deliver against it.
    • Manages Change: Builds credibility with stakeholders by presenting facts in a clear way with recommendations and proposals and following through.

Qualifications and Experience

    • MUST HAVE:
      • Bachelor degree required plus 3-5 years relevant work experience
      • Project management certification & experience required (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, Six Sigma, Lean, PRINCE2, PMI)
      • Language skills required : English
      • Knowledge of some existing processes and systems within Supply is an advantage. Examples of these are Distillation, Brewing, Maturation, Blending, Packaging, Supply logistics, Plant Maintenance, Warehousing, Distribution, Brand Change, 3rd party operations, Quality control.
      • Leadership skills of emotional intelligence, positive energy, edge (focus/prioritization/courage to challenge), people performance (building high performing diverse teams) and continuous improvement mindset.
      • Strong organisational, collaboration and communication skills - ability to work across all levels of the organisation, maintain good business relationships and communicate with impact
      • Change Management experience
      • Experience in business process analysis, managing detailed business requirements gathering, supporting business case definition of benefits and options for solution, associated risks, developing and managing test plans and testing of new updated processes / solutions.
      • Good program governance skills - strong process discipline as well as managing escalations through Tiered governance.
