Job Description

To provide a comprehensive service to offenders and their families.

To provide a professional service to Courts and to help to develop imaginative alternatives to custody within the framework of National Outcomes and Standards for social work services in the Criminal Justice System.


Assume responsibility for managing a case load which entails working directly with people, other agencies and organisations.

Work as a member of The Moray Council Criminal Justice Team.

Undertake appropriate administrative tasks relating to provision of service.

Engage in appropriate supervision and undertake suitable training relevant to professional development.

Health and Safety at Work.

The Individual

Ability to work with individual clients on a one to one or group work setting.

Experience and knowledge of the Criminal Justice system.

Experience of case management within a multi-agency environment.

Experience of risk assessment and risk assessment tools.

Social Work qualification, eg. CSS, C.Q.S.W./Dip. Social Work, Degree in Social Work *

Full registration with SSSC.*

Excellent communication skills, report writing skills and assessment skills.

A strong sense of core social work values.

Effective organisational and time management skills.

A working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Excel.

Ability to work as a team member but also take personal responsibility when necessary.

Ability to appropriately represent the Criminal Justice Team in Court and other public settings.

Ability to calm stressful discussions and stressed people.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray and throughout Scotland to meet the operational requirements of the Service, due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

The capacity to handle stressful situations.

Capacity to deal with other professionals.

Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.

Willingness to accept direction/ delegation.

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service (working outwith office hours as required).

Ability to work in an open plan/shared office.

Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements.

£19.44 per hour
36.25 hours per week
