Job Description

Reporting into the Head of Benefits and Pensions, the Senior Benefits Consultant will manage and deliver the Benefits within Standard Life Aberdeen (SLA). This role will be responsible for delivering the day-to-day Benefits activities (consulting and overseeing Tier 3 queries) in line with policy, process and regional legislation. This role will manage Benefits data sets and review reports for the Head of Benefits and Pensions, to present to colleagues in the wider HR Function and our business stakeholders, where appropriate. The role holder will also be responsible for tracking and monitoring customer service, to ensure the Benefits team are continuously improving service offerings.

The incumbent will perform the following activities:

Strategy and Planning: Liaise with business stakeholders (including advisers, suppliers and trustees)  on a regular basis to review and receive feedback on the Benefits delivery. Ensure strategic Benefits practice is being considered when Benefits is being delivered. Work closely with the Benefits Advisor to ensure key strategic activities are on track and raising any risks to the Head of Pensions and Benefits

Benefits Process Management: Manage the resolution or escalation of internal and business Tier 3 queries. Manage and develop the UK flexible Benefits offering and other Benefits programmes across the Group and ensure they are properly administered and communicated with regard to plan options, policy features and enrolment through the set and ongoing governance review. Manage the employee recognition programme, Total Reward Statements and other group programmes and projects (e.g. M&A, restructuring) as requested. Coordinate the Benefit Open Enrolment and ACA annual processes for our client base using Paycor’s human capital products. Identifying client policies, setting clear expectations and deliverables for Open Enrolment and ACA process. Coordinate the set-up or updates to Benefit Plans to meet plan and system requirements. Lead client through the open enrolment process for their employees to ensure timely and accurate updates. Assist in training and documenting of processes for colleagues and clients

Benefits Data and Reporting: Manage the collation and maintaining of Benefits data and provide regular governance reporting on different Benefit arrangements to strategise with the Head of Pensions and Benefits and Benefits trustees

Customer Service: Manage the monitoring and continuous improvement of the customer service regarding Benefits by: helping clients to develop strategies to promote the Benefits of their schemes to members. Keep clients regularly updated about their Benefits and investment product. Explain complex information to clients to make them aware of their options. Help clients assess the relative merits of different schemes and deliver financial wellness programmes

Skills & Capabilities

  • Experience working in defined Benefits arrangements within large corporate organisations
  • Knowledge of Benefits schemes
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to analyse and research information
  • The ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely
  • Strong numerical and IT skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads
  • An interest in financial products, services and markets
