As part of the staff team of a Care Home the successful candidate will organise and coordinate activities for older people who are living with a mixture of physical and mental health needs. The post holder will require to identify the needs of the group and individuals and organise an activities programme that reflects the needs and interests of the residents in order to maintain or improve the quality of life.
The post holder will require to have a wide range of practical and creative skills and possess excellent communication skills as the ability to work as part of a team and liaise with residents, staff, carers and other agencies is essential.
Induction will be given and the post holder will be expected to liaise with other Activity Co-Ordinators in other areas, to ensure that knowledge is shared and that there can be joint activities undertaken.
Through ADR the Activity Co-Ordinator will be expected to ensure that their personal training and development is ongoing.
SVQ Level 2 is required and the successful candidate will require to register with the SSSC.
Previous experience of working with older people is desirable.
the skills and knowledge you must have:-
- SVQ 2 in Social Care
- Experience in activity work.
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
