Based at Stobhill Depot, you will undertake work in schools, public parks, playing fields, domestic gardens, landscaped areas and similar open spaces within the Midlothian area.
With minimal supervision, you will apply a full range of horticultural and/or arboricultural skills to the duties of the post. These include the maintenance of fine and sports turf, interpretation of plans, site preparation and construction, landscaping and setting out of pitches, tree care and propagation.
Some experience within a horticultural/greenkeeping environment is desirable. Also a weedkilling certificate and experience of operating ride on machinery, tractors, mini-diggers, chain saws, raised platforms, dumpers is desirable. A driving licence which includes the operation of trailers is essential.
Jobholder need to be able demonstrate the ability to undertake a range of landscaping activities over the different seasons.
To be competent in the role jobholders will be expected to undertake external and in-house training for specific skills such as weed spraying and have knowledge of and certification in the use of stone cutters, dumpers, diggers, C.A.T scans etc.
