The overall purpose of the job includes the day-to-day operation of the post holders allocated vehicle, supervision of staff within the activities operating under your control, the collection and delivery of various types of materials associated with the Councils street sweeping, recycling centres and recycling points. The post holder is required to work on a variety of environment service tasks including street sweeping, refuse collection, waste disposal and grounds maintenance duties though the role is primarily one of street sweeping, driving various street sweeping vehicles. You must be able to carry out the physical demands of the post and be able to communicate effectively with team members and the public. The Environment Service operates new ways of working which is a variable shift system involving weekend working. The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Thursday, 36 hours per week. A Driving Licence C1+E is essential.
