This post is required for 26 hours per week, year round, on a fixed term basis to cover the maternity leave of the permanent postholder. You will be required to manage the Stornoway Primary Nursery and support the Early Years Manager to take forward tasks outlined within the Early Years Action Plan.
You must have proven childcare experience working with young children and their families in an early years setting and a qualification that meets the SSSC requirements for managers, or a willingness to gain appropriate qualification. You must have knowledge of child development and how children learn, a knowledge and understanding of play and its importance in young children’s learning and development, knowledge and understanding of the Curriculum for Excellence, How Good is our Early Learning & Childcare, National Care Standards, Building the Ambition and My World Outdoors, and a knowledge and understanding of the importance of a smooth transition between early education and primary education.. You must have the ability to plan and implement a curriculum through short, medium and long term planning and the ability to review all practice and write reports. A driving licence is essential.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade.
