Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Maintain the company’s purchase ledger and lead the processing of invoices on the company’s accounting system
  • Liaise with suppliers in relation to invoice queries and payments
  • Prepare the weekly pay-runs for the Finance Officer and run aged debt reports
  • Be involved in the procurement process per the company’s policy
  • Assist the Accounts team in monthly journals such as invoice accruals, insurance and depreciation accruals
  • Provide input to the expenditure lines of cash flow forecasting
  • Assist with month end reconciliations as advised and prioritised by the Finance Officer
  • To request and reconcile supplier statements on a quarterly basis
  • To assist with reconciling credit card and expenses accounts as required
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT return
  • Process foreign currency invoicing
  • Participate in systems improvement and development projects
  • Assistance with year-end preparations and information for audit files and grant applications
  • Provide holiday cover as required to support the finance team
  • And other tasks reasonably required by Line Manager
  • Experience in a similar finance role, processing supplier invoices and using an accounting software package is essential
  • Experience of Sage 50 or Sage 200 would be advantageous
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills and team working skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • The ability to work to monthly deadlines
  • An aptitude for IT – knowledge of software packages Excel, Word
