About this role

The Fibre Build CMO is responsible for assuring and enabling the delivery of Openreach’s ambitious FTTP build programme, circa 3m homes passed and spend of circa £1bn annually. The CMOs role is to pull together inputs from across all areas and to assure, challenge and drive the delivery. This programme is a key strategic priority for both BT Group and the UK government, and as such is share price effecting. This role lands within the Roll-out Assurance business unit of the CMO, which is responsible for driving the speed of delivery across the Openreach Fibre Build programmes.

This job has accountability for performing analytics across Fibre Build programmes. This would include creating a national dashboard showing the progress of the Fibre Build programmes across 50+ KPIs which would be used to inform strategic decisions.  It will also enable the CMO to provide senior leaders with useful information to supports decision making and actions.


You'll have the following responsibilities

• Build a national-level dashboard of the Fibre Build programmes, aggregating all the important information in a single source of truth and supporting strategic decisions 

• Model impacts of any changes on existing commitments with risks and issues feedback and actions

• Deliver reporting and analytical support across all Fibre Build programmes and to support all elements of the CMO

• Improve relationships with SID, CP&P and Strategy on the future demand including CNS and future funded activity 

• Create effective working relationships with external teams and project directors to enhance reporting and analytics knowledge

• Improve relationships with SID, CP&P and Strategy on the future demand including CNS and future funded activity 

• Coordinate responses from Regional, financial, supplier management and BO&C teams to provide FND approval to proceed with commitments

• Ability to create and present information clearly at senior level


You'll have the following skills & experience

• Excellent system knowledge to support modelling, particularly SQL, Datalabs, LLUMS, WFMT and Excel

• Stakeholder skills required to influence decision makers across Openreach and with external stakeholders

• Driving sustainable business and deployment plans aligned to customers, markets and economic environment.

• Technical knowledge of Openreach products & services and networks

• Commercial knowledge and awareness, and resource and business planning

• Risk and prioritisation skills

• Financial acumen to manage costs, budget and risk & opportunities
