An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Orkney Health and Care mental health services for an enthusiastic practitioner, with substantial experience of working with children and adolescents with mental health problems.

If you are a confident, creative practitioner who is able to work independently and as part of a wider team then this could be the job for you. The post sits within the wider established community mental health services in Orkney which offer evidence-based interventions to address the mental health difficulties for the population of Orkney. Orkney’s CAMHS services are well regarded in the North of Scotland and the current post holder has done much to establish good working relationships with a wide range of practitioners nationally. These act as a source of support and supervision for casework and also a link into the north of Scotland tier four network. Management supervision will also be provided locally within the management structure.

With no inpatient bed availability locally, this practitioner will utilise well developed assessment and risk management skills to appropriately manage care delivery and risk within their caseload. Psychiatrist and psychology support are provided by visiting practitioners through established formal links.

This job entails working with children, young people and their families at home, school or in community venues to achieve treatment goals for a range of mental health conditions. Evidence of the knowledge and delivery of psychological therapies would be an advantage in this post.

You should have substantial experience of working in child and adolescent services, preferably mental health.

You must hold a professional qualification with active registration with relevant professional body. Either NMC, HPPC or SSSC. This post is not discipline specific, those holding qualifications in Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Psychological Therapy will be considered.

Prospective applicants are invited to discuss the post by contacting Valerie Stonehouse on 01856 888280.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults and children.

Closing Date: 26 September 2021

Please note that interview and resettlement expenses will be paid for this post.
