The Digital Product Manager owns and contributes to the Product vision, direction and roadmap of the Digital Innovation Group in conjunction with the Head of Digital Product Management. They ensure that the Product set is designed and delivered in line with this and achieves the expected benefits.
This role is focused on a sophisticated product set to enable Financial Advice & Planning, Investment & Asset Management, Direct to Consumer advised and non-advised experiences, hybrid variations of these, and the underpinning tools, data services, regulatory and operational capabilities & services required by professional organisations in the U.K. and worldwide, including abrdn.
Clearly define and communicate the Product vision, direction and roadmap that provides valuable business benefit to abrdn and the Digital Innovation Group.
Ensure that all aspects of the Digital Product Eco-System(s) are able to support the goals and objectives of the Digital Innovation Group, its customers and other stakeholders.
Understand and interpret external markets – customers, prospective customers, competitors, new entrants, potential partners, general technology and regulatory trends, and the wider Financial Services / Investment / Advice industry.
Ensure that customers’ and the users’ needs are paramount.
Maximise product value in line with customer expectations and product vision.
Track product performance – usage, benefit realisation, effectiveness, areas for improvement – and evolve the product vision, direction and roadmap as appropriate.
Work with the Head of Digital Product Management to produce business cases for investment in the Digital Eco-System and ensure that the expected business benefits are realised.
Liaise with other Product Managers, Owners, Analysts and others in Design roles to ensure alignment and to address problems.
Identify and promote opportunities to improve the Product Management and Agile development practices of the Digital Innovation Group, including appropriate methods, artefacts and controls.
Ensure that the Product set is designed and delivered in line with the Product vision, direction and roadmap
Ensure that other functions including the Digital Development teams understand the Product vision and the desired shape and scope of, and rationale for, changes to the Product set.
Contribute to requirements analysis and product / application design, which may include aspects of data analysis, financial modelling, application design and architecture and user experience
Review the deliverables from the Digital Development teams to ensure that they are in line with expectations.
Ensure that suitable Product documentation is produced to support a) internal colleagues, b) existing customers and c) business development and marketing activities.
Work closely with, and take on the duties when necessary of, the Product Owner(s) to ensure momentum in driving the Product forward.
Develop market propositions and opportunities
Work with the Head of Digital Product Management, the Digital Innovation team, business development and SLA / abrdn Global Distribution team to define market propositions including input to marketing collateral, product pricing and promotional materials.
Acts as a champion for the Digital Eco-System both internally and with existing and prospective customers.
Skills & Experience
Previous working experience as a Product Manager or in related roles within financial services / advice / wealth management software product development
Extensive domain knowledge and experience – Financial Advice / Planning, Investment / Asset Management, ideally qualified to QCF4
In-depth knowledge of Agile processes and principles
Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
Excellent verbal skills – ability to readily explain things and “tell stories”
Excellent written skills - ability to draw diagrams and concisely document product requirements
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong numerical skills – ability to understand financial planning & modelling tools
